Thank you Penny & Lucy, I have to admit that I have had moments of doubt (many of those moments directly attributable to pessimism from members of this site), and I still have mixed feelings on the prospects for the advert - it's an expensive gamble. However, having had my first booking as a solo independent(and receiving much praise for the website from my client - i.e. the website "did the business"), I'm now leaning towards believing the advert is a sensible investment that will lead to more work... although is the readership my target clientelle??? That's perhaps my only worry... Time will tell!

Scarlet isn't exactly "top shelf" - it's definitely for the grown up, modern woman - has some saucy stories and such like - sorta FHM for girls if ya like! WH Smith put it on a middle shelf in much the same way as you'd find FHM...

But anyway - the website IS working and I am eternally grateful to all of those who have contributed towards it's development - be it with direct input or constructive criticism! Thank you!

I am happy to confirm (and wish to assert) that I am "straight" on both counts - sexually and complete honesty in the content on my website. I cannot see any point in being anything less than completely straight (honest) in your website depiction - your client will only end up hugely disappointed and your reputation will suffer. Sadly - I think many escorts (male and female) fail to grasp this concept - happily, I am not one of them!

I am a supporter of your inclusion on this site, because i think it lends light and shade to the inherent difficulties which sex workers encounter.
After all, women are not the only service providers---and if you reread my original post--i was moved to talk about it on stage---the fact that it is TOTALLY different for a woman and man working in the industry.
You say you are straight in the sense of honesty: i would NEVER pay for a man--if i could not see his face.

It's a valid point you make and one that I don't take exception to - obscuring my face... I thought long and hard about it - decided to show it, then to hide it, then to show it, then to hide it - and so on and so forth... in the end, I sought the counsel of others.

I am quite prepared to show my face - how could I not be, given the fact that through my previous adult industry persona I was (and remain - even though I'm no longer active in that "field") visible in all my glory (quite literally!)

The main reason I do not show my face is for my clients discretion. Since I expect many of my engagements to be social functions of various descriptions - and since I am embraking on a high profile advertising campaign in print media - it was felt (pretty much 100% of respondents) that I should obscure my face. I discussed this with my client on Wednesday - and she agreed... she said she would PROBABLY have felt ill at ease being seen in public with me if my face was openly on view on my website. Even though the chances of me being recognised were slim (quite possibly in the extreme) - it is something that might be at the back of her mind.

So whilst I understand and appreciate your (and no doubt many others) resistance to book somebody who COULD be "pig ugly" - I think the right decision is to obscure on the website. Those that WANT to see a clear facial picture - well, avenues remain open - there's always the possibility I could send one via email... so potential clients otherwise put off by the obscured face could STILL TRY THAT AVENUE... however, those that err on the side of caution and prefer discretion - well, by obscuring on the website - I've kept them happy too...

It is an oft quoted thing - men react on visual impulses, women less so and more so on mental stimulation.

Are men conerned about being seen with an escort who is "high profile" with facial photos in the public domain? Possibly so... but let's also consider the fact that the escort insustry is gaining growing social acceptability - but traditionally this has been "men booking women" - "women booking men", although gaining ground (sex in the city, numerous articles in the media that I can direct you to etc), it's still probably something that many ladies would feel publicly uncomfortable with.

Just think of the number of men in recent years who have been "exposed" with escorts or visiting massage parlours- from MP's, through to film stars, through to Wayne Rooney... I'm sure a lot of men take comfort and confidence in that - i.e. they're a little more "brazen" because some of the biggest idols of our time have "done it", so why should they feel embarassed if they were to be "caught"? On top of that, I have heard groups of men in the pub talking openly about rounding a "night out in town" off with a visit to a sauna/massage parlour - that wouldn't have been the case 5 or 10 years ago...

As for why women might be a little more cautious (and this is only an off the cuff thought) - how many high profile women have been "exposed" in the media with male escorts??? None that I can think of.

I'm sure there are some men who would think twice before going out in "public" with a high profile, public domain escort... but I'm sure that evne they'd STILL be more than willing to see them in private.

I honestly do think that the majority of MY bookings will be more for SOCIAL functions/reasons as physical reasons - with the majority of men, I think the reverse is true- I think the motivation is more physical than social - but obviosuly - everybody is different and I am making rather sweeping genrealisations there, but essentially, I think they PROBABLY hold true.
