One in the eye...

What an AWFUL day! Well, day and night!

Whilst out training yesterday I ended up with something flying into my eye - thought it was some sorta small fly/insect - normally these work there way out in the course of a run or a bike - tears and sweat... this one didn't - feels hard - more like some kinda small beetle. It was fairly irritating for most of the evening - but then bed-time arrived and it was the most mildly painful irritant I have ever known - I could NOT settle or sleep.

I tried EVERYTHING to get the foreign object out of my eye - unfortunately I couldn't actually see it - which made matter worse - I tried the old "one eyelid over another", I tried bathing it, blinking repeatedly... nothing would shift it. I eventually ended up with a pair of swimming goggles using them for an eye bath - all to no avail.

I went to the CV gym this morning in the hope that I might sweat it out - no such luck! This only served to make matters worse. I couldn't relieve the pain unless I pressed directly on my eye - as I headed for home, well, my driving was verging on dangerous!!! The pain was intense - felt like something digging into and scratching my eyeball.

I ended up stopping at a chemist and asking their advice. They said they couldn't offer me anything and that a trip to A&E was required...

So that's the gross product of my day - sat in A&E only to have a doctor tell me that he can't see anything but that doesnt mean there isn't anything there - take this ointment - apply it to the eye 4 times a day and hopefully in a couple of days you'll be ok... if not, come back - and no doubt wait ANOTHER 3 hrs to be seen!

Incidentally - the phone HAS rung today - TWICE... both times from withehld numbers - I was sat in A&E at the time anyway - but my site EXPLICITLY says No WITHELD numbers... woudl I have answered had I been elsewhere!!!? Stats for yesterdyas website hits are up VERY, VERY, VERY slightly... not enough to conclude that the ad is working - but hey, its day one!!!!

Anyway - here's hopingthis bloody ointment does the trick and I get some sleep tonight!

I feel its a good start even with witheld numbers, they have taken the trouble to note your number (Most probably very nervous and want to hear your voice on voicemail) I generally dont answer withelds, but on occasion when I have, it has been a call from the office, I tell them that it is witheld and sometimes they dont realise and call back later on a different number, I have had a few bookings that started out as witheld numbers. Maybe you should answer them and just see what happens. Admittedly a few have been timewasters, and I daresay some will be with you but I have a feeling that the ladies wont be as bad, just nervous its new territory.
