True, a number of forest fires do occur in CA and NV each year. Many of these fires are set by arsonists. The trouble with CA is that many local govt's have the power to over rule the CA Dept of Forestry. The Dept of Forst wants to allow people into areas to cut down dead trees and trees that are dieseased but the local govt won't allow it, especially Lake Tahoe and the S.F. and L.A. areas. If they allowed people to use this would there would be less fuel on the ground for the fires to spread.
The govt's ban the private use of wood for heating fuel but sell it the a Company call Bio Mass which burns it to produce electricty. So not only so we have to pay more for gas or electricty to heat our homes we have to pay the city to haul this burnable material away. So, in the long run we are force to give this material away for free, have to pay to have it hauled away and the pay when we use it.
If the govt is willing to pay me to surrender my wood fuel and have the utilities company's pay me for not using my private fuel then I'd be happy to stop using wood to heat my home. But since this will never happen I say fuck'em. The same goes on with re-cycling. We pay a deposit when we purchase a container, deposit in a re-cyclying container for the purpose of re-cycling it, have to pay to have a compay pick it up and they make and keep the profit. It's a bunch of shit.
If I pay the deposit and pay the company to pick it up then I should be getting a credit on my bill for my contribution to the company earnings.
