Here's something new in the spa world, at least in the United States.

I know about these fish from scuba diving in the South Pacific. There are places in the coral reef known as "cleaning stations". These are places where large fish will go and have their scales cleaned of parasites, etc. by a group of much smaller fish. Normally large reef fish eat the little guys, but in these special locations, a kind of a truce exists. The little cleaning fish will even go inside the mouths of the larger fish without fear.
You can put your hand in the "cleaning station", and the little fish will come out and peck at the skin on your hand. Its truly amazing. It's definately different; but it seems that people who have gone to the spa that have those fish seem to like it a lot. I saw something about this on the local news a couple weeks ago and it was very interesting.

I think that it probably is a little expensive since it is a spa treatment that's different and has fish involved in the treatment. |

I have tried it in Singapore recently. It wasn't that expensive, and came as a package with a shoulder massage.
It felt ticklish but only for a while until your legs adjusted to the sensation. It was fun and relaxing. I would have to agree that it does help your blood circulation as you feel very tiny electric shocks. One has to be careful that there are no cuts on your legs for fear of bacterial infection. |
